Dr. Chuah graduated with a BEng (Hons), MEngSc and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from University of Malaya, Malaysia. He is current a Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Director of Research & Postgraduate Programmes, Multimedia University, Malaysia. His research interests include microwave remote sensing, applied electromagnetics, device physics and wave propagation for indoor and outdoor communications. He has published more than 90 papers in international journals and conferences. 

Dr. Chuah has received many awards, locally and internationally. Among them include the Professor Chin Fung Kee Gold Medal for Engineering Management subject in 1986, the inaugural Young Engineer Award by the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia in 1991; the Young Scientist Award at the 23rd General Assembly of the International Union of Radio Science (URSI) at Prague, Czechoslovakia in 1990; the Young Scientist Award at the 24th General Assembly of URSI at Kyoto, Japan, in 1993; the Young Scientist Award (Industrial Sector) by the Malaysian Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment in 1995; and the Malaysian Toray Science and Technology Award for his contributions in microwave remote sensing in 1999.

Dr. Chuah is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia; Fellow of the Remote Sensing Society of UK, and a Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council, UK. He is also a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He sits on the Admission and Training Standing Committee, the Examinations and Qualifications Standing Committee, and the Accreditation Board of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He is a Senior Member of IEEE, and Corporate member of IEE
