TINA-C Announces "TINA
Specifications and Products for Open Service Architecture" during
its Sestriere Meeting: Final
Version
- The TINA
(Telecommunications Information Networking Architecture)
Consortium held its latest semi-annual meeting hosted by CSELT in
Sestriere, Italy during the week of March 20, 2000.
- Senior executives from TINA-C member
companies reviewed and discussed ongoing TINA-C projects in the
areas of, for example, Open Service Architecture, IP Network
Control Management and UMTS/VHE. TINA-C plans for their completion
in year 2000.
- TINA-C approved specification for
"TINA Conformance Testing Framework," providing the key
mechanism in achieving TINA branding.
- The China TINA-Project Group
(TINA-PG) announced that China is working on its "10th 5-year
plan" and "Long-term plan (2001-2015)" to upgrade
the China Telecommunication Infrastructure. The plan anticipates
rapid growth and requires future-proof technologies. TINA has been
proposed to Ministry of Information Industry
(MII) as a candidate for target architecture for its
network. "The China TINA-PG is making an
intention-investigation here to be used as an evidence for
reporting and proposing to MII to open the China TINA-PG to any
interested organizations in the world from the year 2001. This
arrangement will enable us to enjoy the globally-ensured
technologies based on TINA to update our infrastructure for the
21st century. We expect that many global leading companies in this
area are willing to join us." said Dr. Ji, Zhaojun, the Chair
of China TINA-PG.
- Infitel, a young, fast-growing,
Telecommunications Software company, introduced its product
(InfiCore). InfiCore provides a flexible platform over different
network technologies, for example, VoIP,
PSTN, Web and WAP

Manager, Product Management, Infitel.
- TINA-C announced its achievements
and future plans influencing developments in a variety of
Standardization Bodies, including Object Management Group (OMG), 3GPP
cooperating with the ETSI SPAN3,
Study Group 10 (Telecommunication Software) and Study Group 11
(Switching and Signaling) of ITU,
and Telecommunication Management Forum (TMF).
- Dr. Sadahiko Kano, Executive Advisor
to NTT and President of TINA-C said "I am very proud to say
that good ideas created by TINA-C are coming into the market as
products and also being adopted as a basis for important
applications such as Open Service Architecture (OSA) of
3GPP."
